Moving abroad is exciting, but setting up a new life is rarely simple. I know because I’ve set up my life from scratch few times. I first moved from Finland to the UK, and then to Spain.

As a Finn, I’m used to systems that are clear and processes you can trust. Moving to Spain comes with a lot of paper work and bureaucracy. I found that much of the advice and many of the services offered to expats focused on finding the cheapest option or simply getting things done. But I wanted to understand my options, make actually smart choices and find solutions that would actually work in the long run.
